Why Pick and Drop Braids Are Suddenly Replacing Knotless Braids Everywhere
Achieving two full months of wear from pick and drop requires an entirely different regimen than maintaining fully braided styles. You cannot simply soak this hair in dense foaming mousses and heavy oils; doing so weighs down the free-flowing human hair and creates greasy build-up near the plaited roots.
At night, divide the hair into two to four loose, jumbo twists. Secure the ends with silk scrunchies and wrap the entire perimeter in a wide satin bonnet. This simple step prevents the loose human hair from tangling or developing mechanical friction against cotton pillows. In the morning, shake out the twists, run five drops of lightweight argan or jojoba oil through the lengths, and finger-comb through the mid-lengths.
Scalp hydration must be targeted. Apply a water-based leave-in tonic containing botanical extracts directly to the exposed scalp parts using an applicator nozzle once or twice weekly. Wash days are straightforward: dilute a sulfate-free shampoo in an applicator bottle, spray it along the parting grids, massage gently with the pads of the fingers, and allow the suds to run downward through the loose lengths. Deep condition the lengths, rinse clean with cool water, and blow-dry the root braids thoroughly to prevent moisture retention at the scalp.
