Antony Starr Breaks Silence on Viral Homelander Memes Ahead of the Boys Season 5
By James H. Sterling
During his recent press cycle across outlets including Yahoo, TODAY.com, and SlashFilm, Starr openly confronted the sheer volume of Homelander memes circulating on platforms like X, Reddit, and TikTok. Rather than expressing irritation over having an intensely nuanced drama performance turned into brief comedic loops, the New Zealand actor embraced the viral legacy.
Starr singled out the cheek-blowing exhale alongside the iconic "Homelander theater realization" clip, where his character smiles proudly at a chaotic, hyper-violent montage in a dark screening room, as the pinnacle of the fandom's creative output. Starr noted that what he loves most about fan meme rankings is how everyday users apply his character’s psychological breakdowns to mundane daily occurrences.
"You spend months in hair and makeup trying to convey the existential decay of an absolute psychopath," Starr remarked during the junket, laughing at how a three-second facial twitch became the default visual metaphor for submitting a tax return at 11:59 PM. He pointed out that Eric Kripke and the creative staff often send each other new community edits during script read-throughs, turning the production office into its own internal meme factory.
