Anaheim GardenWalk’s revised hotel construction timeline is less of an expansion announcement and more of a practical holding action. By giving Prospera and Westgate additional runway, the Anaheim City Council kept the district's long-sought hospitality dream intact while avoiding an immediate default crisis.
The challenge now shifts to capital delivery. Having thousands of hotel and timeshare rooms built directly above GardenWalk’s retail plazas remains the cleanest solution to the center's stubborn foot-traffic deficit. Until those foundations are poured, GardenWalk will continue leaning heavily on regional concertgoers, convention delegates, and weekend moviegoers to carry the corridor along Katella Avenue.
